| 2006 MDLA Annual Meeting and Spring Seminar
The MDLA’s 2006 Annual Meeting and Spring Seminar, "Recent Developments in Civil Litigation," was held on Friday, May 12, 2006, at the Boston Park Plaza Hotel. Once again, MDLA Directors Holly M. Polglase and Anthony J. Sbarra, Jr. put together a wonderful program with a great faculty including the Honorable Bonnie H. MacLeod-Mancuso, Associate Justice of the Superior Court, the Honorable John J. Xifaras, Associate Justice, Retired, of the Superior Court, Attorneys Robert A. Curley, Jr., Kathleen M. O’Donnell, Thomas C. Federico, and John P. Ryan and experts from Exponent, Inc., Michael O’Neill, Paul Cassidy and Chimba Mkandawire. The luncheon following the morning presentations begin with Thomas D. Burns' remarks and presentation of the Massachusetts Defense Lawyer of the Year Award to the family of John A. Donovan, Jr. and concluded with our luncheon speaker, the Honorable Francis X. Spina, Associate Justice of the Massachusetts Supreme Judicial Court. |

| January 17, 2006 | 2006 Mid-Winter Social
On January 17th, we kicked off the New Year with the MDLA's Mid-Winter Social at the Boston College Club. Approximately 40 MDLA members, including three recipients of the MDLA Lawyer of the Year, John P. Ryan, Robert A. Curley, Jr. and Lee Stephen MacPhee, were in attendance for an informative 30 minute presentation entitled "Clarity, Comprehension and Coherence: Keys to Persuading a Jury," by jury consultant, Edward Schwartz of Edward P. Schwartz Consulting. The program was informative and very well received by the members. |
| November 18, 2005 | 2005 District Court Jury Trial Practice Seminar
The District Court Jury Trial Practice Seminar was held on Friday, November 18, 2005, at the Suffolk University Law School. It was another successful event with 35 new attorneys registered. Judge H. Gregory Williams, First Justice of the Edgartown District Court and Presiding Justice of the Southern District of the Appellate Division of the District Court provided a view from the bench. Seminar speakers also included Attorneys Stephen Woodworth and Susan Sullivan of Lynch & Lynch and Rafael McLaughlin of Morrison Mahoney LLP. |
| June 13, 2005 | 2005 Seventh Annual MDLA Justice Cup
The Seventh Annual MDLA Justice Cup was held on June 13, 2005, at the Hopkinton Country Club in Hopkinton. This charity golf tournament was a friendly competition between the Massachusetts defense attorneys and plaintiff attorneys in a fun, recreational setting, to facilitate civility in the legal profession. Proceeds benefitted St. Jude Children's Research Hospital. |
| May 13, 2005 | 2005 MDLA Annual Meeting and Spring Seminar
The MDLA Annual Meeting and Spring Seminar was held on May 13, 2005, at the Hyatt Regency Hotel in Boston. The annual meeting was a huge success with over 150 attorneys registered. There were many fine speakers, and the program was capped off with the Honorable Robert J. Cordy, Associate Justice of the Massachusetts Supreme Judicial Court as the luncheon speaker. |
