The MassDLA Associates Division kicked off its first brown bag luncheon of 2012! On January 18, 2012, Noel Dumas Esq. (Morrison Mahoney LLP) and Rebecca Dalpe Esq. (Foster & Eldridge LLP) presented “Taking a Deposition: Tips, Tricks and Tools of the Trade” at the law offices of Morrison Mahoney LLP, where Attorney Dumas is a partner. The event was attended by new and seasoned associates alike and featured a roundtable discussion of depositions of fact witnesses. The speakers provided a thorough overview of the purposes and rules surrounding depositions. They also discussed advanced topics such as handling opposing counsel’s instructions not to answer, maintaining professionalism at all times, how to deal with witnesses that defy subpoenas and how to handle the invocation of the 5th Amendment.
